The National Charity League, Ventura County Chapter Juniors (NCLVCJ), has been, and will continue to work towards establishing a Ronald McDonald House Charities Family Room (RMHCFR) located at Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC) as part of the hospital re-purposing and renovation. This RMHCFR project serves to assist with the psychological, social, emotional care of our pediatric patient families facilitating the Pediatrics Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unity, and the Children’s Cancer and Blood Diseases (CCBD) Program at VCMC.
When families at VCMC walk into the RMHCFR, we want them to forget they’re in a hospital. RMHCFR is a place to rest and regroup right at the hospital, just moments away from their sick child. Research shows that a family presence in the hospital helps children heal and cope better. Staying close by allows parents to better communicate with their child’s medical team and improves adherence to complicated treatment plans. This is the continuity of care that NCLVCJ supports for all children receiving care in Ventura County.
